Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS) uses neuromodulation to activate the Vagus Nerve to force the body out of a stress mode. This treatment is conducted while fully clothed and lying in a peaceful and comfortable environment. There are many health benefits to this treatment. See below.
As you will be dressed during your session, it is recommended that you wear or bring something comfortable such as shorts, stretch pants, etc. You may choose to be under the linens or not.
A small pad (similar to EKG pads) will be placed on your stomach and a clip will be attached to your ear lobe. The device will be turned on. You will hear it beep every 30 seconds to let you know it is activated. Your therapist will move the clip to your other ear halfway through your treatment.
Our goal is to make your visit with us as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Please silence your cell phone, not only for your benefit but also in consideration of other clients in nearby rooms.
During your session, it is helpful to focus on your breathing as this helps to keep your mind from wandering. Try to stay in the moment rather than thinking about what you need to do later. This is called mindfulness.
Your therapist will check on you during your visit. If you are too cool or too warm or uncomfortable in any way, please let them know so they can adjust the room to your comfort.
You will have at least 10 minutes following your session to recuperate before you leave. Please take advantage of this time and do not rush out. Help yourself to refreshments. Many clients find that their mind is calm and peaceful after their session and choose to write down ideas, thoughts, etc. There is a notebook in the room so that you can write if you choose. You can tear it out and take it with you or leave an inspirational thought for future guests..
